Summary: John and James talk. James sneaks John out of the house so they can go golfing. Something John has never done.
He turned off the water and opened the shower door. He reached for a towel, but couldn’t find it. He looked out and smiled, seeing John holding the towel. The smile quickly left his face, seeing the look that John had.
“Is everything ok?” James asked, holding his hand out John placed the towel in his hand and again looked at him.
“Is it true?” John asked, placing his hand on his head.
“Is what true?” James asked, having no idea what John was talking about.
“What Justin said,” John asked.
“I don’t know what Justin said. I wasn’t there.”
John backed up a bit. “He said he’s paying you to have sex with me,” John said.
James eyes widened. Ok, that wasn’t the plan. He put the towel around himself and stepped out of the shower.
“Oh, God, it is true!” John said, walking out of the bathroom. He could tell by the look on James’s face.
“John, wait,” James said, following him. John sat down on the bed and covered his face.
“John, wait, let me explain,” James said.
“No! I don’t want to talk to you. You’re just like my sister,” he said, falling back on the bed. “Get out of my room!”
James took a step back. “John, please, just hear me out,” he said.
John covered his ears and rolled over. James clinched his fists together and walked back into the bathroom. He dried himself off and reentered John’s room.
“I want you to leave,” John said, tossing James‘s bag at him. He let it fall to the floor.
“No. I’m not leaving, not until you listen to me,” James said.
“No, I don’t want to listen to you. I just want you to get out of my fucking room!” John was yelling now. James took in a deep breath. John picked up a pillow and tossed it at him. James dodged it easily.
“John, please….” James said.
John sat down and grabbed his hair. “It’s not fair!” He cried out. James ran over to him and pulled him close. At first John tried to pull away, but he stopped. He placed his head on James’s shoulder.
“Justin isn’t telling you the truth,” James said. “He isn’t really lying, either.”
John pulled away from him. “What do you mean?”
“Justin was tired of babysitting you all the time, so Amy called me and asked me to come and keep you company.”
John put his hand over his face. “So, you’re only here because they are paying you?”
“No, and I hope you believe me. I care about you and when they made me leave the first time, it killed me. I wanted to get a hold of you, but they made it almost impossible. I didn’t want to go the first time and I’m not leaving this time, no matter what.”
John looked up at him.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” He asked weakly.
“I guess I thought you knew,” he said.
“No, I didn’t. I guess I never thought about it,” he said, wiping his face.
“John, please, don’t cry,” James said, kissing his head. “I’m so sorry, but everything we have is real. I care about you so much and I want to help you get away from them,” he said, placing his hands on John’s face. “Please, John, you have to believe me.”
“How much are they paying you?” John asked.
“I didn’t tell them an amount. I just said I know you’ll be fair,” James said, placing his hand on John’s leg.
John looked at him. He let out a slow sigh and lifted his hand on James’s face running it along his jaw. He pulled him close and kissed him.
“I guess you’re not mad anymore?” James said as they pulled away.
“I should know not to believe Justin,” John said.
“If it makes you feel better, they haven’t paid me yet and I’m not going to take the money.”
“No, you should and we can go shopping,” John said, lying down. He pulled James on top of him and placed his hands on his back.
“Get you some new clothes,” James said.
“What is wrong with my clothes?” John asked, sliding his hand up and down James’s back.
“Nothing, I guess, if you’re a cowboy,” James said.
“I sing country songs,” John said.
“Yeah, but can you even ride a horse?”
John didn’t answer. He bit his bottom lip.
“Ha! You aren’t a cowboy.”
“Well, can you ride?” John asked.
“I can a little bit. I’ve ridden a few times,” James said. “It’s fun. We should go sometime.”
“Hey, Justin won’t let me do anything fun,” John said, placing his hand behind his head. “I’ve been wanting to go play miniature golf forever and he keeps saying ‘we will later‘.”
“Hmm, would you like to go right now?” James asked sitting up.
“What? Justin won’t let me. He doesn’t do anything with me at night. I get a cup full of drugs and he goes off doing God knows what, leaving those girls to check on me,” John said, yawning.
“So, you think he’s gone?” James asked.
“Yeah, he left right after he came in here,” John said, sitting up. James smiled and got up. He walked into the kitchen.
“Oh, God, why do you do that?” Rhonda cried out as James walked in only in is birthday suit.
“It’s fun. Look, John and I are going to, well, you know, and it would be very un-cool of you to walk in and see us,” James said, leaning on the counter.
“Oh, no, I won’t come into his room,” Rhonda said, looking away.
“Good,” James said, walking back to John’s room. “Get dressed, we are going out,” he said.
John got up and stumbled a bit. James caught him. “Are you up for it?” He asked.
“Yeah, I’m ok. I’m used to being dizzy,” he said, looking at the dresser. “What am I supposed to wear?”
James looked over at him as he slid on his leather pants. “Whatever you want,” he said.
John stood there and scratched his head.
“We have a lot of work to do,” James said, walking over to him. He lead him to the closet. “Just pick something,” he said softly.
John looked in there. “Should I dress up, or wearing something casual?”
“Casual is fine,” James said, putting on a shirt. He walked over to the dresser and picked up his watch. He placed it on and set it. It beeped a few times and showed 62. He packed his bag with all the things he may need and looked up at John. He was still looking. James laughed to himself and walked over to him.
“It’s going to be hot, so a t-shirt will do just fine,” he said, pulling out one. He pulled out a pair of jeans as well.
“I feel so stupid,” John said, sitting the shirt and pants on the bed. He got a pair of underwear and slid them on.
“You‘ll get the hang of it,” James said.
“Justin doesn’t let me do anything for myself,” he said, putting on the shirt.
James smiled and looked away.
“What?” John said.
“It’s on backwards,” James said softly.
John pulled it off and turned it around. “See? I’m a mess. I can’t even dress myself,” he said. James picked out a pair of shoes for John and sat them by the bed. “He dresses me, tells me what and when to eat, where to go, what to do, even when to shit.” John said, sitting on the bed. He picked up the shoes and looked around. James tossed him a pair of socks.
“Well, we’ll just have to take little steps,” James said, watching John put his shoes on.
“So, how are you going to get me out of here?” John asked.
“I took care of it,” James said, walking over to the window. He pushed it open and popped the screen out. “I’ve done this a few times,” he said.
“So, what did you do before you came here?” John asked, walking over to the window.
James sat the screen down. “John….” He said.
John looked at him. “I’m sorry,” he said.
“Look, at first, it was just like a job. I came and gave you head, chatted with your for a while and left, but the more Amy used me, the more I cared about you. I started to have feelings for you, but I can’t hide who I was, John,” he said.
“Was?” John asked.
James nodded. “I’m done with that,” he said.
“So, what are your plans now?” John asked, walking close to him. He put his hands on his shoulders.
“John,” James said, lifting his chin up. “I love you, too.”
John pulled him close and their lips came together. James wrapped his arms around him and held him tight. “So, let’s go out and celebrate!”
John nodded and watched as James climbed out the window. He walked over to it and lifted himself up. James took his hand and helped pull him out. John hopped down. “Now, why didn’t I ever think of that?” He asked, getting a bit light-headed. James put his arm around him. He looked around and stopped a taxi. He waved his hand.
“Oh, put this on,” he said, pulling out a hat and sunglasses.
John took the hat and looked at the glasses. “The sun isn’t up,” he said.
“I know, but we don’t want anyone spotting you,” he said.
“Oh, I knew that,” John said, putting them on. At times he felt it would be best if he just keep his mouth shut and smile and nod. The taxi pulled up to them and James pulled the door open.
“I don’t have any money,” John said.
“I got it covered,” James said, telling the driver where to go. John took his hand and leaned back.
“Are you sure you’re up for this?” He asked placing his hand on his face.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” John said lying. He felt so dizzy and was on fire. He felt a bit sick to his stomach.
“You’re hot,” James said.
“Hey, guys, I’m a pretty hip guy, but I charge extra if you plan on doing it in my cab,” the driver said.
James looked up. “I meant he’s got a fever,” he said.
“I’m fine. It’s the pills,” John said, wiping the sweat off his face. He shifted his weight just a bit. But the pain was getting worse. The cab stopped and John smiled.
James paid the driver. “Have fun,” the driver said.
“Oh, wow,” John said, looking at the go-carts, golf, batting cages, and the indoor arcade. “I have never been in a go-cart”.
James smiled. Luckily, there wasn’t very many people there and not too many new things to do around town this old and very much out of date place. He wondered how it stayed open.
“What do you want to do first?” James asked.
“I don’t know. You pick,” John said, still looking around.
“This is your first step to freedom,” James said. “You pick.”
“The go-carts,” John said.
James smiled and walked over to get some tickets.
“I want two for the go-carts,” James said.
“Ten bucks,” the man said, looking up. “Why, I’ll be! James, how are you? Long time no see.”
James sighed and stepped back.
“I’ve been trying to call you. I could use a little, if you know what I mean,” the man said, grabbing himself.
“I’m retired now,” James said, removing his wallet. “Can I just have the tickets?”
“What do you mean you’re retired? You’re the best fuck out there. I need a fix from you,” he said, touching himself again. “I get off in a few hours, why don’t you lose the stiff over there and come find me?”
“Sorry, I’m done with that,” James said.
The man looked at him. “You are not joking, are you?” he asked, handing him a couple of tickets.
“No, I’m not.” he said wishing the guy would shut up. John seemed like he didn't even hear the man.
“What? You with him now?” He asked.
James nodded. “Yeah, I am.”
“Where did you find that guy? He looks drugged out of his mind.”
James faced John again. He looked very pale and unsteady as he looked around. He was watching a few cars on the track.
“Thanks for the tickets,” James said, laying the money down.
“James, come on, man, what about one last time for old times? I could really use it. I'm so hard just seeing you." he smiled
“Go find someone else,” James said.
“You’re just a stupid fuck and that’s all you’ll ever be! Oh, I get it. You’ve turned into pretty woman, haven’t you?” He called out as James walked away. James walked faster to John. "But you can't change who you are. You'll see. Fucking whore."
“Come on, let’s go,” he said, taking John’s arm. John shook his head as James pulled him.
“Wait, I want to watch the cars, James,” John said, pulling back. James stopped.
“John, let’s go!” He snapped. John looked down and stepped forward. James took him by the arm and pulled him again. They stopped in front of the track.
“It will be about ten minutes,” they heard. James looked back at the ticket both.
‘Fucking asshole,’ he thought. John pulled his arms away from him and stepped back a bit. James leaned back on the railing and closed his eyes.
